Each Bible study contains background to the passage which comes from commentaries published by the author, then follows an application of the verses. The following are the subjects of the Bible studies. The Apostle John's calling (1:9-20) and recommissioning (10:8-11). The Lord called and commissioned John twice in Revelation. The Lord still calls and commissions Christians to serve Him. The church at Thyatira (2:18, 20-24, 28). When the background to the church and the issues confronting the congregation are understood, we learn that the seven churches are not so different from churches today. There are three Bible studies related to judgment: the theophanies (4:5; 8:5; 11:19; 16:18) which are sometimes referred to as the "heavenly artillery;" Rome's judgment (18:1-24); and the Great White Throne of judgment (20:11-15). The subject of judgment is usually avoided, but it is important that Christians understand what Scripture teaches. Two Bible studies look into methods of interpretation: the four horsemen (6:1-18) and the burning mountain (8:8-9). When asked, most believers probably have not thought about prayer in Revelation, but it is there (6:9-11). Another subject many have not thought about in Revelation is evangelism, but it is also there (7:1-8). Christians are active during Tribulation spreading the Gospel. One judgment reveals a characteristic about evil that may raise some eyebrows (9:1-11) - it destroys itself. The New Testament teaches about a Christian's relation to government (Rom 13:1-4 and Rev 13:1-4). There is the Second Coming (19:11-16). Then Heaven (21:1-4,9-11, 22-22-27, 22:1-5).
