The Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) is the cornerstone of every government contractor's reference library, and required reading prior to entering into contracts with the United States government. The Office of Federal Procurement Policy Act of 1974 established the OFPP and delegated to it the issuance and maintenance of the FAR. The FAR forms Chapter 1 of Title 48 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and is the core of all federal procurement. Other agencies have authority to issue their own supplements to the FAR. Chapter 2 of Title 48 is the Defense FAR Supplement (DFARS). These books contain the full text of the DFARS, and unlike other publications, are printed in easy to read 12-point font. As the title implies, the DFARS is a supplement to, not a replacement for the FAR, which remains the foundation for each agency's supplements. The FAR and its supplements are updated frequently. Please check the publisher's website frequently for FAR updates and the most up-to-date editions.
