Move over superheroes, superpowers, men, machines, and weapons with unending noisy ammo. This time when humanity is in danger, it is a humble but not-so-humble kindergarten teacher who must save the world with just the tools of her trade. In the process, she learns the mystery of time, which may solve the puzzle archaeologists and historians in the real world have been struggling to discover. A hypersonic plane. A hypersonic love story. An apocalypse too great for words. A survival technique hinging on the powers of the mind that can defy death and thousands of years—thirty-five thousand years to be exact! Emit Eht is a tale about discovering secrets of our past and asking ourselves if what we know about human history is all a lie. Is our past more closely connected with our future than we know?

Explore all the core components for the commercialization of quantum dot light emitting diodes Quantum dot light emitting diodes (QDLEDs) are a technology with the potential to revolutionize solid-state lighting and displays. Due to the many applications of semiconductor nanocrystals, of which QDLEDs are an example, they also hold the potential to be adapted into other emerging semiconducting technologies. As a result, it is critical that the next generation of engineers and materials scientists understand these diodes and their latest developments. Colloidal Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diodes: Materials and Devices offers a comprehensive introduction to this subject and its most recent research advancements. Beginning with a summary of the theoretical foundations and the basic methods for chemically synthesizing colloidal semiconductor quantum dots, it identifies existing and future applications for these groundbreaking technologies. The result is tailored to produce a thorough understanding of this area of research. Colloidal Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diodes readers will also find: An author with decades of experience in the field of organic electronics Detailed discussion of topics including advanced display technologies, the patent portfolio and commercial considerations, and more Strategies and design techniques for improving device performance Colloidal Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diodes is ideal for material scientists, electronics engineers, inorganic and solid-state chemists, solid-state and semiconductor physicists, photochemists, and surface chemists, as well as the libraries that support these professionals.

From the Preface The Clean Air Act Amendments (CAAA) of 1990 significantly affect commercial and industrial combustion devices such as boilers, incinerators, and other burners. Under the new emission regulations already promulgated and those being developed, compliance will require improved equipment, more detailed operator training, new permits, more complex monitoring and reporting, as well as other requirements. All emissions must be considered, e.g., particulates and gases (acid, organic, hazardous, NOx, ozone). Many industrial boiler plants have been retrofitted to change fuel and/or combustion operating conditions as a means to meet new air pollution control requirements. New regulations will continue to be developed by the CAAA of 1990 that will require changes to other boilers and combustion systems. This book is intended to acquaint industry with the equipment and operating options that are available to reduce emissions while controlling costs. Specific topics are addressed, including regulatory requirements, boiler and burner equipment retrofits, combustion modification, air emission control and monitoring equipment selection, maintenance, and cost. The twelve chapters of this book are written by seven different authors. The authors use fifty-two figures and forty-four tables to help explain the written text and to make it more interesting and useful to readers.
