Creo que esta verdad, revelada por todos los grandes textos sagrados, estriba en que cada cosa es una y que todas las cosas forman parte del todo, siendo cada una de ellas, por tanto, perfectamente válida. Ahora bien, la única forma de alcanzar este estado unitario es llegar a ser uno mediante la integración de todos nuestros yoes. Cuando era niña formaba un todo. Me dedicaba simplemente a pintar y estaba contenta por ello. Mas tarde, cuando la vida se me hizo más compleja, me fragmenté en muchos yoes y aprendí a juzgar a todos y cada uno de ellos. Unas partes eran buenas, otras malas. Algunas merecían ser amadas, otras eran dignas de ser despreciadas. Comencé también a criticar mis pinturas y a mí misma como pintora. Me convertí en algo más. Pero más tarde, durante una época de quietud en la que estaba demasiado cansada para juzgar y bastante débil para escuchar, pinté de nuevo; y entonces me di cuenta de que mis errores, mis intento fallidos mis malos cuadros me habían hecho dar un gran paso adelante: la realización mi primera gran serie de pinturas. Desde ese momento mi vida cambió y me integré de nuevo en un solo yo. Y simplemente fue que la pintura me enseño el Tao.
