This book was derived from an introductory interview between Monica Øien, the hostess of a number of Norwegian TV programs, and Luang Por Dhammajayo, the abbot of the Dhammakaya Temple and president of the Dhammakaya Foundation, who sacrificed his valuable time from the duties of promoting world-peace through inner-peace, to answer all the challenging questions from western people who lack a background knowledge in Buddhism. His answers, which contain a lot of Buddhist wisdom, have given light to the interviewer who has spread this knowledge to a Norwegian audience via her television show. The publisher considers this interview to be beneficial for all people who wish to access the Lord Buddha’s teachings through simple, conversational language. For all non-Buddhists who are curious about Buddhism, this book is a quick guide that provides the fundamentals of Buddhist views. We have obtained permission from Luang Por Dhammajayo to publish this book.

This is the incredible story of Tenzin Palmo, a remarkable woman who spent 12 years alone in a cave 13,000 feet up in the Himalayas. At the age of 20, Diane Perry, looking to fill a void in her life, entered a monastery in India--the only woman amongst hundreds of monks---and began her battle against the prejudice that had excluded women from enlightenment for thousands of years. Thirteen years later, Diane Perry a.k.a. Tenzin Palmo secluded herself in a remote cave 13,000 feet up in the Himalayas, where she stayed for twelve years. In her mountain retreat, she face unimaginable cold, wild animals, floods, snow and rockfalls, grew her own food and slept in a traditional wooden meditation box, three feet square. She never lay down. Tenzin emerged from the cave with a determination to build a convent in northern India to revive the Togdenma lineage, a long-forgotten female spiritual elite. She has traveled around the world to find support for her cause, meeting with spiritual leaders from the Pope to Desmond Tutu. She agreed to tell her story only to Vicky Mackenzie and a portion of the royalties from this book will help towards the completion of her convent.

Both Buddhism and dance invite the practitioner into present-moment embodiment. The rise of Western Buddhism, sacred dance and dance/movement therapy, along with the mindfulness meditation boom, has created opportunities for Buddhism to inform dance aesthetics and for Buddhist practice to be shaped by dance. This collection of new essays documents the innovative work being done at the intersection of Buddhism and dance. The contributors--scholars, choreographers and Buddhist masters--discuss movement, performance, ritual and theory, among other topics. The final section provides a variety of guided practices.

This volume addresses the issue of the human encounter with the Mystery of God and the purpose of human life. It explores major themes from diverse cultural and philosophical traditions, starting with questions about the possibility of belief in God, His transcendence as seen in both East and West, and ending with questions about ethics and about personhood, human dignity and human rights. Taking an eclectic approach, the chapters in this book each uniquely address aspects of the human encounter with the Mystery of God, drawing from specific cultures and traditions, and using a particular philosophical and theological style. Together, the chapters provide a fresh approach and a synergy that ensures that each topic contributes something new to the dialogue between religion and culture.

This book is a comparative analysis of the value orientations of Buddhist and Christian entrepreneurs and how these values impact business. The chapters review and analyze the concepts of Buddhist economics and the social teaching of the Roman Catholic Church. The value orientations of Buddhist and Christian entrepreneurs are described by irreducible core values that correspond to the ontological conception, the procedural dimension, and the “other directedness” of a spiritual value commitment in business. The book includes the reflections of Buddhist and Christian entrepreneurs about business spirituality, profit, the temporal perspectives of business, and stakeholder management. The cases testify that a spiritual value orientation can contribute to creating genuine ethical commitment. The findings and the examples can encourage business scholars and practitioners to stop considering ethics as an instrument in the service of profit and serve as inspiration for integrating spirituality into business in a profound way. This book will be of interest to scholars studying business ethics, workplace spirituality and faith at work.

Amo Abundance is a new approach to an old problem: accumulating wealth. Along with family and romantic relationships, money can carry some pretty heavy energy, and it most often comes from family and romantic relationships. That energy also comes from us and the emotions we associate with the monetary values of exchange we use to purchase the goods and services we desire. Cash, jewels, clams, or anything used to purchase things is only a vehicle, yet we associate so many things, quite a lot that are negative, to that vehicle that we carry around in our wallets and purses. We stress over it, fight over, worry about it, love it, and hate it. But the funny thing is... it's just money. The reason you struggle with money is that your programming is keeping it from you. Ever wonder why the bills keep piling up? Or why when the clouds are clearing and the blue sky is shining over you, you get hit with another 'life' event? You've programmed yourself since birth. Yes, YOU. You are where you are with money because of that programming. If you want to change your stars and live the life you desire, you have to clear it. I tried for 45 years. This is how I did it. And since I tried and banged my head against walls, sidewalks, and moving vehicles, my troubles are now your solutions. The techniques in this book will change your life if you apply them. They will clear your path. They'll light your life on fire and help you rid yourself of the burden you've bene carrying.
