"Deaddies": a sarcastic-sounding neologism that can be found in no dictionary, but is by now well established in American slang. Its lexicographic roots stem from both the father and death, thereby providing a convenient shorthand for the Oedipal complex, while at the same time sounding cute when spoken out loud. Tobias Rehberger took this word as the name for his exhibition in Turin, and he takes it again as the title of this book. From his earliest works thorugh his most recent, the span of which is represented in this publication, Rehberger has perplexed viewers by confronting them with his constant production of new and unusual methods of art making. Uncategorizable in their ever varying style and medium, Rehberger's works share an existence as open communication systems, in both their production and their reception. Often reflecting the artist's preoccupation with his personal environment--his friends, other artists, gallery owners, and art collectors--Rehberger's installations create public spaces for unexpected but familiar interractions, questioning context, society, and environmental issues.

This book presents a new framework for understanding the relationship between biblical narrative and rabbinic law. Drawing on legal theory and models of rabbinic exegesis, Jane L. Kanarek argues for the centrality of biblical narrative in the formation of rabbinic law. Through close readings of selected Talmudic and midrashic texts, Kanarek demonstrates that rabbinic legal readings of narrative scripture are best understood through the framework of a referential exegetical web. She shows that law should be viewed as both prescriptive of normative behavior and as a meaning-making enterprise. By explicating the hermeneutical processes through which biblical narratives become resources for legal norms, this book transforms our understanding of the relationship of law and narrative as well as the ways in which scripture becomes a rabbinic document that conveys legal authority and meaning.

In this writing, we have considered how Jesus set the pattern for our early Christian faith in the Great Commission and how a spiritual battle can be expected as we learn to overcome the old sin nature. We learn that the baptism by the Holy Spirit occurs when the Holy Spirit immerses the new believer spiritually into the death of Jesus on the cross. As the new believer surrenders to the indwelling Christ, the filling of the Holy Spirit is experienced. However, when we sin against the Holy Spirit by lying to, grieving, or quenching Him, our fellowship with Jesus is broken and must be restored by confessing our sin. Because we have the power of the resurrected Christ living in us, we begin our new life in Christ from the position of victory, seated together with Jesus in heavenly places. Even though we have this position of victory, we are tempted by the old sin nature, but a way of escape is provided by our saying, "No, I won't go there," to the temptation. Through this journey we learn to surrender our all to Jesus so He becomes our life as we live each day here on this earth. When we do this, Jesus lives His life through ours. It is my earnest prayer this book will enable us to understand how much God loves us and who we have become in Christ. Because of who Christ is in us through the Holy Spirit, we have the authority to say no to the temptation of sin. When Jesus is our life we live with joy, peace, and victory in our hearts, whatever the circumstances of life may be.

The book of Romans clarifies the principle of justification, whether it is by deeds of the law, or by the work of God. The law has never been a means of salvation. Faith has always been the means of spirituality regardless of the dispensation. This epistle also helps us to understand how to have victory over the flesh. If we as believers walk according to our new nature, the inward man, we are controlled by the Holy Spirit and not the sin nature. This New Testament Commentary is a verse by verse a verse-by-verse teaching of the book of Romansfrom the personal study notes of Bob Yandian.
