Excerpt from Pennsylvania State Camp and Subordinate Camp Constitution: Preceded by the National Camp Constitution and General Laws of the Patriotic Order Sons of America and Digest Annexed Now, therefore, We, the undersigned Sons of America, do hereby associate ourselves into a fraternity for the purpose of increasing the integrity and sustaining the power, of the American body politic, and of instructing 'each other so to act as citizens of our great country, that all her interests and rights may be preserved, and that those who come among us shall have the fullest respect for, and strive to become, real Americans, at heart and in name. In which act of association we severally pledge ourselves to the observance and support of the laws of the land, and regulations of this Fraternity as be comes the sons of freemen, willing to submit to the restraints of social order, and acknowledging no other bonds but those of duty to God, our Country and ourselves. We desire this declaration of principles to be taken and construed only at its face value, and that no additions nor variations shall be read into it, and our order thereby be misrepresented. As an American fraternity, it is our sole purpose to stand for, and work openly for, a, purer, nobler, more genuine American patriotism.
