The final season for the Cleveland Indians has come to an end. The Indians defeated the Rangers 6-0 on October 3rd, 2021, and when the final out was made, Indians fans across the country likely felt sadness or even anger. But what we need to remember is all the memories that our beloved ballclub has created for our fans for more than a century. Since the spring of 1915, the Cleveland Indians and their loyal fans have witnessed historical moments on the field and in the stands. In 2021, the final year under the nickname the Cleveland Indians, a record of 80-82 may not have been what thousands of fans were hoping for. As fans of the Cleveland Indians we need to keep in mind the iconic memories that we have had the pleasure of experiencing for generations. Robert Feller pitched 3 no-hitters during his time with the Tribe, multiple Hall of Fame players and countless memories, including Rajai Davis blasting his game tying home run in the 8th inning of the 2016 World Series that tied the game at 6 with Chicago. This book is so much more than the Indians final record, it a chronicle of each game of the final season, historical moments that match each game's date, including questions and answers regarding many of the best moments and records in Cleveland Indian's history. For each of the final season's games you'll see the box score and game recap. It will share with Indians fans young and old 162 different Historical Moments and memories that will be remembered forever. And finally, as difficult as it may seem to cheer for a new team just because of the new name, 2022 is a new year. Baseball is coming back to Cleveland and it's a new opportunity to experience historical moments with our beloved baseball team, the Cleveland Guardians.

The Cleveland Indians of 1928 were a far cry from the championship team of 1920. They had begun the decade as the best team in all of baseball, but over the following eight years, their owner died, the great Tris Speaker retired in the face of a looming scandal, and the franchise was in terrible shape. Seeing opportunity in the upheaval, Cleveland real estate mogul Alva Bradley purchased the ball club in 1927, infused it with cash, and filled its roster with star players such as Bob Feller, Earl Averill, and Hal Trosky. He aligned himself with civic leaders to push for a gigantic new stadium that—along with the team that played in it—would be the talk of the baseball world. Then came the stock market crash of 1929. Municipal Stadium was built, despite the collapse of the industrial economy in Rust Belt cities, but the crowds did not follow. Always the shrewd businessman, Bradley had engineered a lease agreement with the city of Cleveland that included an out clause, and he exercised that option after the 1934 season, leaving the 80,000-seat, multimillion-dollar stadium without a tenant. In No Money, No Beer, No Pennants, Scott H. Longert gives us a lively history of the ups and downs of a legendary team and its iconic players as they persevered through internal unrest and the turmoil of the Great Depression, pursuing a pennant that didn’t come until 1948. Illustrated with period photographs and filled with anecdotes of the great players, this book will delight fans of baseball and fans of Cleveland.
