If the forces of global dissent could exploit the G8 as a site of exclusion and neglect, however, the G8 leaders and state officials could exploit the differences between the 'nixers' (most radical) and the 'fixers' (more reform-minded) components (Ostry, 2002).1 To the nixers, the G8 symbolizes all that is wrong with the global political/economic architecture.
