The habit of concentration as distinguished from action is invaluable as a preparation for some technical work, but for some other technical work that habit would be an injury, to be avoided as far as compatible with getting the needed knowledge. Professor Crabtree is right, I believe, in holding that technical teachers are moving in the direction of becoming educators, and laying more stress on giving a broad foundation of general principles and less on specialization.
