An exciting adventure story of two young men from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, traveling to Fort Pitt to spend the winter of 1770""1771. Traveling across Pennsylvania in 1770 is very risky event. Though the French and Indian war was over, the Indians hate the colonials, because we are still British subjects. Jeremiah and Jim have different lives and sweethearts that they leave behind, hoping to return next year and resume where they have left off. The exciting stories they generate out in the wilderness, making friends and a few enemies, with some fatal robberies and Indian attacks. For two young pilgrims, they need the protection of Providence more than they realize. On the lighter side, like Jeremiah stepping into some pots and pans full of dishwater at midnight while leaving the tavern. No one is sleeping then. There are rumors of Jeremiah instigating some shooting matches just to earn extra money; he is an excellent shot. Financially, they do well while crossing the wilderness. Jeremiah is a gunsmith, and Jim is a very good cook. They make money every time they come to a settlement or a fort. When they return to Lancaster, their party increases from them to five additional people. The sweethearts have serious plans for a double wedding; Jeremiah and Jim don't see that coming. This is a compelling story loaded with adventure, thrill, excitement, and romance.
