Always a glutton for punishment and in sore need of money again by 1976, Larry set sail for Africa to work in the supposedly lucrative mining industry. Africas casual attitude to everything, including Workplace Health and Safety, made Larry, with his astute ability to keep any piece of machinery going with chewing gum and string, a valuable national asset. Sadly, his work skills had no impact on his ability to pull birds, and teaming up with his best mate, the super-hot Jim Bridges, made his failures seem even more spectacular. Accompanied by the sorriest collection of colleagues, bosses and enemies to grace a book, Larry and his bunch of wily mates scrape through life, with an eye ever open for the chance of a quick buck, including winning the National Darts Championship and buying a racing yacht. They always managed to stay within the law unless the law was downright inconvenient and escaped Africa before the authorities discovered their expired visas or the mayhem and murder they had left behind. Whats more, Larry always managed to leave with a little something extra tucked away somewhere.
