In the first instance, the CSC study group was convened to examine the implications of PNSPs in federal correctional institutions, with participants from CSC staff (including security and health services) and the federal department Health Canada, along with prisoners, community organizations, and members of the public. [...] Other positive comments were made about confidentiality of the service, the knowledge and health education that could be provided through the peers, and a non- judgmental approach that could and should be expected of peer workers trained and willing to play this role.
