Excerpt from Archives of Ophthalmology, Vol. 38 During the course of a comparative study of the ocular reactions of the insane, the writers took occasion to secure photographic records of the eye movements in a case of congenital nystagmus. The patient was a paranoid dement who was committed to the Asylum as a result of some breach of the peace. The records were taken only a few days before his release, when the patient showed considerable improvement. In view of the condition of the patient at the time of examination, and in view of the absence of any especial optical stigmata of mental derangement, we assume that the records give a graphic representation of the involuntary eye movements in a case of congenital, binocular, lateral nystagmus, without serious complication from the residua of mental disease.
