H: For the Year Ending February 15, 1896 Once more the time has come in which your committee must give an account of their stewardship. The condition of our schools during the past year has been such as to satisfy, in most cases, the reasonable expectations of our citizens. Some of them we cannot report as successful as we wished to see them. There was evidently trouble in the air good order has not been a prominent feature, yet no serious act of insub ordination has occurred. In most cases harmony and good will have existed between teacher and scholars; where con trary conditions have existed, and we have been let into the heart of things, we have taken prompt measures to correct. A scholar who is disposed to disobey the rules of school, and to see just how far he can go in that direction, should (as Dr. Harris, superintendent of schools in Keene, says), Be talked to not too long, but to be gotten rid of; he is an imposition to the school. We have been much annoyed by non-attendance, in many cases without (so far as we could judge) bona-fide and sufiicient reasons.
