The 12 prophets -also known as 'minor' for the brevity of their books, not for being less significant- offer a vision of history as depending on man's acceptance or refusal of divine principles that are meant to penetrate all aspects of life - worship, social relationships, philanthropy, work...- and all interrelated. In general their message is ecumenical, it regards the whole of human race, not only Israel, and as such it was used also by New Testament authors. God's Day or Judgment Day, separates justice from corruption. Those who repent participate in God's kingdom, in this life, in prosperity and justice. Repentance regards society as a whole, the transformation of a whole nation and its laws, supporting the highest moral standards of living. Man is not called to leave this world but to change it. True religion is proved in works of philanthropy and justice. Each individual can do nothing without the others, progress is a communal achievement. The book is offered at cost price, it is illuminated, and it features a relatively large typeface, making its reading a pleasure. The text is the one prepared by Alfred Rahlfs, modified by the Church of Greece to take advantage of forms being in use in the Greek liturgical tradition, a tradition of the highest authority, coming through Byzantium and being alive even now.
