Master's Thesis from the year 2017 in the subject Computer Sciences - Industry 4.0, grade: 5.0/5.0, , course: Computer Science and Engineering, language: English, abstract: Accident data analysis is one of the prime interests in the present era. Analysis of accident is very essential because it can expose the relationship between the different types of attributes that commit to an accident. Road, traffic and airplane accident data have different nature in comparison to other real world data as accidents are uncertain. Analyzing diverse accident dataset can provide the information about the contribution of these attributes which can be utilized to deteriorate the accident rate. Nowadays, Data mining is a popular technique for examining the accident dataset. In this study, Association rule mining, different classification, and clustering techniques have been implemented on the dataset of the road, traffic accidents, and an airplane crash. Achieved result illustrated accuracy at a better level and found many different hidden circumstances that would be helpful to deteriorate accident ratio in near future.

Today, online technologies are at the core of most fields of engineering and society as a whole . This book discusses the fundamentals, applications and lessons learned in the field of online and remote engineering, virtual instrumentation, and other related technologies like Cross Reality, Data Science & Big Data, Internet of Things & Industrial Internet of Things, Industry 4.0, Cyber Security, and M2M & Smart Objects. Since the first Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation (REV) conference in 2004, the event has focused on the use of the Internet for engineering tasks, as well as the related opportunities and challenges. In a globally connected world, interest in online collaboration, teleworking, remote services, and other digital working environments is rapidly increasing. In this context, the REV conferences discuss fundamentals, applications and experiences in the field of Online and Remote Engineering as well as Virtual Instrumentation. Furthermore, the conferences focus on guidelines and new concepts for engineering education in higher and vocational education institutions, including emerging technologies in learning, MOOCs & MOOLs, and open resources. This book presents the proceedings of REV2020 on “Cross Reality and Data Science in Engineering” which was held as the 17th in series of annual events. It was organized in cooperation with the Engineering Education Transformations Institute and the Georgia Informatics Institutes for Research and Education and was held at the College of Engineering at the University of Georgia in Athens (GA), USA, from February 26 to 28, 2020.

Teenage driving and associated accidents have been thoroughly studied. With the graying of our population in the United States, a focus on senior drivers and related accidents is needed. Unfortunately, there is not one comprehensive study that reviews the major existing studies conducted on senior drivers and accidents. In examining the literature, it also appears that data mining has rarely been applied in studying relationships between senior driver characteristics and accidents. This paper addresses these two needs by providing a meta-analysis of the existing literature on senior drivers and showing how data mining techniques could be used in this application.

In this third edition of Vehicle Accident Analysis & Reconstruction Methods, Raymond M. Brach and R. Matthew Brach have expanded and updated their essential work for professionals in the field of accident reconstruction. Most accidents can be reconstructed effectively using of calculations and investigative and experimental data: the authors present the latest scientific, engineering, and mathematical reconstruction methods, providing a firm scientific foundation for practitioners. Accidents that cannot be reconstructed using the methods in this book are rare. In recent decades, the field of crash reconstruction has been transformed through the use of technology. The advent of event data records (EDRs) on vehicles signaled the era of modern crash reconstruction, which utilizes the same physical evidence that was previously available as well as electronic data that are measured/captured before, during, and after the collision. There is increased demand for more professional and accurate reconstruction as more crash data is available from vehicle sensors. The third edition of this essential work includes a new chapter on the use of EDRs as well as examples using EDR data in accident reconstruction. Early chapters feature foundational material that is necessary for the understanding of vehicle collisions and vehicle motion; later chapters present applications of the methods and include example reconstructions. As a result, Vehicle Accident Analysis & Reconstruction Methods remains the definitive resource in accident reconstruction.

The dataset includes the factors which affect the accidents are collected from various agencies. Based on these attributes, the dataset is divided into three different severity classes namely: Major, Minor, and Fatal. The Major severity class consider the accident records of those people who died on the spot at the time of incident. In case of fatal severity, it includes the record of those people who injured in such a way they lose their body parts due to accident. In case of minor severity, it includes the record of those accidents where no one (human being) is injured or either vehicle collapse but no loss of life is there. In this, using severity classes the traffic accident data is analysed as well as models are trained to make prediction of the class.
