Here are the different types of puzzle in this fantastic new book of sudoku variants for 2020: Arrow Sudoku - A visually appealing variant that adds arrows to the grid, numbers along the path of an arrow sum to the circled square at the head of each arrow. Consecutive Sudoku - This puzzle tells you where all the consecutive pairs in the grid are, such as 4,5 or 7,8 - can you use this logic to help you solve the puzzle? Inequality Sudoku - This sudoku variant tells you the relationship between some pairs of squares in the grid, using greater than and less than signs (such that 4 4, etc) Jigsaw Sudoku - One of the most popular sudoku variants, the 3x3 boxes are replaced with irregular-shaped regions making for a fun but often slightly trickier solve than standard sudoku Killer Sudoku - A common variant that is again generally harder than standard sudoku, here dotted cages are added to the grid, and numbers within each cage must sum to the number given at the top-left of each cage Sandwich Sudoku - A fantastic new variant that has proven very popular: around the edge of the grid you are told the sum of the digits between the 1-9 in each row and column in the grid. The number 0 means that the 1-9 are adjacent, whilst the highest number is 35 (the sum of 2+3+4+5+6+7+8) which means the 1 and 9 must be in the first and last square of the row/column in some order. A simple and fairly innocuous rule change, but with big implications, and introducing some fascinating new solving-logic to the puzzle mix Snowflake Sudoku - A 3D / three-dimensional sudoku variant, in the shape of a snowflake, here some regions go around corners to literally add a new dimension to the solving experience! Sudoku - The classic, much beloved puzzle with the elegantly simple rules but a lot of depth. Just place the numbers 1-9 once in each row, column and box. How hard can it be? Sudoku X - One of the first sudoku variants to appear when sudoku first took the world by storm, but less commonly seen now. This variant adds two diagonal regions to the grid which are marked in grey, forming what looks like a giant letter X in the grid, hence the name of the puzzle. Thermo Sudoku - A fun variant that adds thermometers to the grid. The numbers inside each thermometer must increase from the circular bulb to the head of the thermometer. Thus 2,4,8 would be possible within a thermometer, but 2,5,5 would not be, nor would 2,5,7,3: the former due to repetition and the latter because the values do not consistently increase. Will your temperature rise trying to solve these puzzles? The final thing to say is that every puzzle can be solved through the use of logic alone - you will never need to guess to solve any of these puzzles, and they all have a unique solution.
