Easton's Bible Dictionary is a classic book of definitions which serves to explain and clarify the meaning of the names, places, and words found in the Bible. Many Christians and scholars who read the Bible often remain unawares of the meanings or significance of the Holy Book's vocabulary. Such words are often derived from Ancient Hebrew or other old scripts, which makes it even more difficult for readers who only speak English to understand. Location names, in the context of ancient geography, are likewise hard to scrutinize - yet Easton's Dictionary not only explains what these places are, but their size and overall impact across the entire Bible. First published in 1893, this dictionary uses the authoritative King James Bible as its source. As well as containing definitions and accounts of the many terms found throughout the Old and New Testaments, Easton's Bible Dictionary points out the significance of certain things and exactly where mentions of such phenomena appear in the Bible. The presence and significance of iron, for example, is noted in the Books of Genesis, Chronicles, Ezekiel, Deuteronomy, Isaiah, Job, Joshua, Kings and in the Psalms. Individuals in the Bible are also given biographical definitions. Through Easton's referencing of the names, we can discover the exact Bible passages where such figures are mentioned. Likewise we hear of terms relevant to the life of the ancient peoples; the term 'Levy' for instance is shown to equate to a form of involuntary recruitment which kings ordered. Words in frequent use today, such as 'Schism', are also shown to originate from the Bible. Other words we use today - such as 'Teeth', are shown to have been informal terms: 'cleanness of teeth' in Amos 4:6 denotes an outbreak of famine, for example. Many of the parables and tales of the Bible are retold in abbreviated form in Easton's Bible Dictionary. These retold anecdotes reference other relevant passages, further evidencing how the various portions of the Bible are interconnected and related to one another. Such a style also gives this unconventional dictionary a flowing quality, making it easier for the reader to enjoy large tracts of this text without pause. The ancient world of the Biblical canon is given life and color by Easton's descriptions. Primarily however, Easton's masterwork is designed for reference. Yet it not only defines the individual entries, but places these entries in their proper context throughout both the Old and New Testaments. Owing to this wealth of information, the reader may perceive that Easton's Dictionary is not merely a book of definitions, but an authoritative and significant work of classic Christian literature.

This is a discount Black and white version. Some images may be unclear, please see BCCampus website for the digital version. This book was born out of a 2014 meeting of earth science educators representing most of the universities and colleges in British Columbia, and nurtured by a widely shared frustration that many students are not thriving in courses because textbooks have become too expensive for them to buy. But the real inspiration comes from a fascination for the spectacular geology of western Canada and the many decades that the author spent exploring this region along with colleagues, students, family, and friends. My goal has been to provide an accessible and comprehensive guide to the important topics of geology, richly illustrated with examples from western Canada. Although this text is intended to complement a typical first-year course in physical geology, its contents could be applied to numerous other related courses.

Paul said in Second Timothy 4:7, "?I have finished my course?." Paul got through his phases of ministry and fulfilled all God called Him to do. You see, there are phases of ministry that God wants ministers to get into. Not only are ministers to fulfill their phases of ministry, but all of God's people have a ministry to fulfill - if not in the fivefold ministry, they are to fulfill their ministry through the ministry of helps, which means they are to serve in some capacity in their own local church. All Christians have phases of ministry to fulfill, whether in the fivefold ministry or in the ministry of helps; we must all get into the different phases of ministry God has for us. But many people don't know that. They're ignorant of God's plans and purposes for their lives. When you're ignorant of God's will for your life, it's dangerous. I don't know about you, but I'm going to make sure I know where I am in my phases and finish my course. You can too. We're all supposed to be increasing in the knowledge of God's purposes. Will you be diligent to understand your role in the Body of Christ? Are you going to discipline yourself to progress in your anointing? Will you avoid the enemy's tricks to short-circuit your effectiveness in the Body of Christ? If your heart is to walk in the fullness of what God has for you, I believe this book will be a blessing in helping you finish your course.

Standing on the Shoulders of Giants is a book that opens up the vastly unexplored subject of mantles. Just as Elijah passed on his mantle (his anointing) to Elisha, we see clearly through the pages of this book just exactly how mantles are transferred, received, and imparted through the workings of the Holy Spirit. This fascinating topic is highlighted by biblical illustrations, modern day stories, and the author's own extraordinary personal testimony. This book is essential reading for those who desire to be positioned for the soon coming move of God that is destined to break upon the Church with an unprecedented deluge of God's glory, His cleansing fire, and an enormous harvest of souls that will be of epic proportions.

JULIE HUNTLEY Dean of the College of Business, Oral Roberts University Morris Ruddick casts the vision of expecting even greater manifestations of power than in the book of Acts. We are given purpose for developing our spiritual maturity focused on overcoming insurmountable obstacles in today's times. Morris masterfully presents the steps for appropriating the mantle of fire that will change our personal lives and the world around us. The practical insight for those hungering to be used mightily by God is empowering. This book offers the tools for those wanting to be instrumental in changing the spiritual climate of this world, while advancing the Kingdom. MARK MCCLENDON Director of Southeast Asia, CBN Inc. Morris Ruddick's perspective on the unseen world has been honed through decades of a prayer-soaked walk with the Lord. As a youth I recall visits to the Ruddick home, listening as my father and Morris would think deep, pray long, and strategize for the Kingdom. Now, 40 years later, his writings challenge the status quo. Mantle of Fire is a book I had to savor, as every sentence brims with spiritual truth, exposing vibrant threads of the invisible realm calling for a more passionate search of pure God-empowered thinking to make us the anointed men and women that God designed us to be. CURT LANDRY Founder, Curt Landry Ministries Morris Ruddick has captured a clear, practical understanding of the current paradigm shift in how Christians think about God's empowerment for today's times. TheMantle of Fireis a must read for those called to the marketplace. It is a great read for those desiring operational maturity within the household of faith. True spiritual maturity of being doers of the Word and not hearers only is no longer an option. This book is a clear call to action!"

Treatise on Geophysics: Mantle Dynamics, Volume 7 aims to provide both a classical and state-of-the-art introduction to the methods and science of mantle dynamics, as well as survey leading order problems (both solved and unsolved) and current understanding of how the mantle works. It is organized around two themes: (1) how is mantle convection studied; and (2) what do we understand about mantle dynamics to date. The first four chapters are thus concerned with pedagogical reviews of the physics of mantle convection; laboratory studies of the fluid dynamics of convection relevant to the mantle; theoretical analysis of mantle dynamics; and numerical analysis and methods of mantle convection. The subsequent chapters concentrate on leading issues of mantle convection itself, which include the energy budget of the mantle; the upper mantle and lithosphere in and near the spreading center (mid-ocean ridge) environment; the dynamics of subducting slabs; hot spots, melting anomalies, and mantle plumes; and finally, geochemical mantle dynamics and mixing. Self-contained volume starts with an overview of the subject then explores each topic in detail Extensive reference lists and cross references with other volumes to facilitate further research Full-color figures and tables support the text and aid in understanding Content suited for both the expert and non-expert
