It is most desirable that every information should be offered to those who are seeking to find the true grounds and origin of our great Sabbatic institution; and it is incumbent upon all to have well-balanced opinions, and to form their own conclusions from the arguments adduced on this subject, "and few things," the Bishop of Oxford said at his inaugural address at the Reading Church Congress, just held, "are of more immediate concern." The advantage of this treatment of the subject will be found to be twofold. (1) The sermons can be read in the order of logical sequence laid down in the selection and order of subjects issued to the competitors, which will enable the reader to form a consequential judgment of the results obtained by the investigation.
