Download Internationalizing Firms Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
This book explores emerging trends in internationalization, analyzing the processes and steps that firms take when entering new markets. This timely contribution highlights the need for a deeper understanding of today’s internationalization process, critiquing existing literature and instead proposing a new paradigm based on a re-interpretation of the Resource-based View (RBV). Analysing the motives behind internationalizing, the factors affecting entry choices, and the challenges connected to outsourcing and offshoring, the authors present a new framework for understanding the reasons behind internationalization and the financial risks that are involved. With theoretical discussion and empirical case studies, this book seeks to offer an informed insight into internationalizing, making it an invaluable read for those researching entrepreneurship on a global scale, as well as managers and leaders of international firms.

Download Internationalizing the Curriculum in Organizational Psychology Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
This book assembles state-of-the-art thinking on the internationalization of the curriculum of training centers in I/O and Work Psychology. The experts contributing chapters share their thoughts on the knowledge and skills that students must master in the 21st century, as well as their research on how we can develop students to be globally perceptive, culturally competent working professionals. Chapters cover a full range of topics such as: the scope of subject matter and content, learning objectives and outcomes, global competencies, co-curricular activities, experiential learning and the tacit curriculum, while curriculum development must stem from the philosophy of each institution, these philosophies may diverge in focus (e.g. science versus practice) and outcomes (e.g. jobs versus mastery). Therefore, the goal of the book is not to prescribe a particular curriculum, but rather to provide insight on possible curriculum elements that may be customized for use by training institutions.

Download The Globalization of Internationalization Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
The Globalization of Internationalization is a timely text which gives voice to emerging perspectives as an increasing range of countries engage in the process of internationalization. The pressure to internationalize cannot be ignored by institutions anywhere in today’s world, yet the dominant paradigms in the conception of internationalization traditionally come from the English-speaking world and Western Europe. This book sets out to offer alternative viewpoints. Different dimensions and interpretations of internationalization in countries and regions whose perspectives have received little attention to date provide food for thought, and help to broaden understanding of its application in alternative contexts. Combining diverse perspectives from around the world, this new volume in the Internationalization in Higher Education series seeks answers to key questions such as: What are the main characteristics of internationalization viewed from different cultural and regional backgrounds and how do they differ from traditional models such as in Western Europe, North America and Australasia? What issues in different global contexts have an impact on internationalization processes? What are the key challenges and obstacles encountered in developing innovative and non-traditional models of internationalization? With contributions from world-renowned international authors, and perspectives from countries and contexts seen only rarely in the literature, The Globalization of Internationalization offers distinctive overviews and insights while exploring a range of thematic and regional issues arising from these considerations. This will be essential reading both as an academic resource and a practical manual for university leaders, academics, higher education policy advisers and non-governmental organizations which fund higher education.

Download Examining the Relationship Between Organizational Culture/change and Internationalization Efforts Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
The rapid growth of globalization and the interconnectedness among nations challenges universities to transform their educational practices and integrate an international perspective through internationalization of their campuses. How an institution advances internationalization efforts to provide all students with the intercultural skills, increased cultural awareness and expanded worldviews necessary to help them succeed in today's global society depends on the support of the organizational culture and its commitment to implement needed change. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between organizational culture/change and internationalization efforts at one research institution through a qualitative, descriptive case study. Tierney's (1988) framework on the Six Concepts of Culture and Kezar and Eckel's (2002) framework on Five Change Strategies were used to analyze data from senior leadership, administrators, faculty and students to explore how organizational culture and change supported or deterred internationalization efforts at one institution.
