A mother’s love surpasses the vast power of time, even the ineffability of death. Even during the final moments of Annie’s mother, both their love for each other never faltered. And even after her mother’s passing, Annie still felt the love her mother has for her. Unexpectedly, she received one gift from her mother that she never anticipated—her rocking chair. Now that the rocking chair is in her possession, countless memories come flashing. She feels her mother’s unconditional love toward her. The moments she and her mother enjoyed with the rocking chair will now be cherished by her and her daughter, Emilie. Grandma’s Rocking Chair will bring forth plenty of stories and memories worth treasuring.

Grandma invited me to spend two weeks with her each summer. They were special times in the late 1940's and early 1950's before life got too complicated. This memoir was inspired by a writing contest sponsored by Reminsce magazine. It's the second time I revisited the Grandma theme, perhaps instigated by the births of my own grandbabies during the last three years. Originally, I wrote a piece called Coxsackie Oak, found as part of my full-length memoir named Bless You Bouquets, published in 2013. Enjoy the read, and reflect on times spent with your loved ones. Hopefully, it will remind you of times you'd like to write about as well.

Humorous, uplifting, and informative, Final Legacies is written for the recreational reader as well as for survivors of loss by death. The author traces his own views of death from his early childhood through the present and reveals methods of recovery in the Final Legacies left by the deceased. The book is a must for those who have lost a significant other, who counsel the dying and their survivors, and who will face loss in the future. The humorous treatment of a very heavy subject relieves the reader of the emotional devastation of reading about death.
