I have learned and I have most certainly lost a lot over the years in this lifetime. I did my best to write to you in a way that my words would resonate with you for decades to come and down through your many generations. I wrote Grandma's Kitchen Table from the abyss of my heart to you and prayerfully I have helped you get a grip of your own life by reading my journey through my ups and downs. Being a pastor does not exempt me from faults, however, it seems as if my mistakes were only heightened because I am a man of God. We, as leaders are mere men and women, so I detailed what it is like to be lost and found only after giving my life over to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Please, my dear brothers and sisters, read with an open mind and share this heartfelt book with your friends and family. Grandma's Kitchen Table was inspired by the upbringing of my dear grandmother Esther Mae Vincent, it was her strict guidance while sitting at her kitchen table that has kept me alive until I was able to man-up to put my testimony on paper. Hopefully, my stories will inspire you to live a better life as you flip through the pages of my life, and the lessons I have come to learn while being seated at Grandma's Kitchen Table.

In a gorgeous keepsake volume based on the slideshow that captured the world’s attention, Gabriele Galimberti’s beautiful portraits of grandmothers from all over the world with their signature dishes stunningly illustrates the international language of food and family. On the eve of a photography trip around the world, Gabriele Galimberti sat down to dinner with his grandmother Marisa. As she had done so many times before, she prepared his favorite ravioli—a gesture of love and an expression of the traditions by which he had come to know her as a child. The care with which she prepared this meal, and the evident pride she took in her dish, led Gabriele to seek out grandmothers and their signature dishes in the sixty countries he visited. The kitchens he photographed illustrate both the diversity of world cuisine and the universal nature of a dish served up with generosity and love. At each woman’s table, Gabriele became a curious and hungry grandson, exploring new ingredients and gathering stories. These vibrant and intimate profiles and photographs pay homage to grandmothers and their cooking everywhere. From a Swedish housewife and her homemade lox and vegetables to a Zambian villager and her Roasted Spiced Chicken, this collection features a global palate: included are hand-stuffed empanadas from Argentina, twice-fried pork and vegetables from China, slow-roasted ratatouille from France, and a decadent toffee trifle from the United States. Taken together or bite by bite, In Her Kitchen taps into our collective affection for these cherished family members and the ways they return that affection. In Her Kitchen is an evocative, loving portrait of the power of food and family, no matter where in the world you sit down for dinner.

When Amelia Morris saw a towering, beautiful chocolate cake in Bon Appétit and took the recipe home to recreate it for a Christmas day brunch she was hosting, it resulted in a terrible (but tasty) mess that had to be served in an oversize bowl. It was also a revelation. Both delicious and damaged, it seemed a physical metaphor for the many curious and unexpected situations she's found herself in throughout her life, from her brief career as a six-year-old wrestler to her Brady Bunch-style family (minus the housekeeper and the familial harmony) to her ill-fated twenty-something job at the School of Rock in Los Angeles. As a way to bring order to chaos and in search of a more meaningful lifestyle, she finds herself more and more at home in the kitchen, where she begins to learn that even if the results of her culinary efforts fall well short of the standard set by glossy food magazines, they can still bring satisfaction (and sustenance) to her and her family and friends. Full of hilarious observations about food, family, unemployment, romance, and the extremes of modern L.A., and featuring recipes as basic as Toasted Cheerios and as advanced as gâteau de crêpes, Bon Appétit is sure to resonate with anyone who has tried and failed, and been all the better for it.
