This report has been prepared for the 2nd Review Meeting on the Convention on Nuclear Safety in fulfilment of Canada's obligation pursuant to Article 5 of the Convention. The report demonstrates how Canada has implemented those obligations and the format follows closely the guidelines established under Article 22 of the Convention. Themes covered in the report are: existing nuclear power stations; the legislative & regulatory framework applicable to nuclear safety; the regulatory body, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission; the priority given to nuclear safety; financial & human resources; human factors; quality assurance; assessment & verification of safety; radiation protection; emergency preparedness; and nuclear power station siting, design & construction, and operation.
