Photographers Erika Z. Figabomba and Alessandra Tisato drove from Nevada through San Diego and up to the San Francisco Bay Area taking over 10,000 photos of beautiful, powerful women and non-binary people. These photographs celebrate beauty in a way that is far from the polished, glossy images of fashion and advertising; they also explore the meaning of nakedness in a society that seems to prioritize superficial entertainment over women/non-binary sexuality and overall body positivity. With 224 pages and more than 100 color photographs, this collection is a celebration of Beauty, Determination and Empowerment free from all genders and stereotypes. B.A.D. Beautiful And Determined is a revolution brought out to you through hundreds of photographs taken all around the world in more than 6 years. With critical texts by Carlotta Cossutta, a precarious researcher in political philosophy, who works on feminism and queer theories in and out of academia, and Elle Stanger, a queer person who writes sex education, short stories and advice columns and works to reduce shame and harm related to sexuality and touch, B.A.D. is more than a visual masterpiece. These women embrace nudity on their own terms; they love and cherish their bodies. Many of them are politically active, and all have strong opinions and give back to their communities on a daily basis. Rather than trying to find a single, one-dimensional answer to the definition of female and non-binary empowerment, B.A.D. (Beautiful And Determined) showcases a wide variety of positive and inspirational examples. Having previously worked in street and commercial photography, we felt the need to celebrate the life of those who hold an important place in our hearts and minds; women whose lifestyle is fierce and passionate, who have something to say and who are a step ahead of the typical idea of a model. This project was later brought to Europe where it continued to develop. The collected material is both powerful and diverse; it only seemed natural to bring it all together in a book: B.A.D. was born. B.A.D. will also include written content, produced by the models themselves, revolving around the subjects of sex, love, fetish, and relationships, as well as reflections on topics such as the display of female nudity and the role of women in society.--Drago

"""You never met Selwyn, did you?""""No, sir.""""Never heard anything definite about his trouble?"" insisted Gerard.""Oh, yes, sir!"" replied young Erroll, ""I've heard a good deal about it. Everybody has, you know.""""Well, I don't know,"" retorted Austin Gerard irritably, ""what 'everybody' has heard, but I suppose it's the usual garbled version made up of distorted fact and malicious gossip. That's why I sent for you. Sit down."""

#1 NEW YORK TIMES, WALL STREET JOURNAL, AND BOSTON GLOBE BESTSELLER • One of the most acclaimed books of our time: an unforgettable memoir about a young woman who, kept out of school, leaves her survivalist family and goes on to earn a PhD from Cambridge University “Extraordinary . . . an act of courage and self-invention.”—The New York Times NAMED ONE OF THE TEN BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY THE NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW • ONE OF PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA’S FAVORITE BOOKS OF THE YEAR • BILL GATES’S HOLIDAY READING LIST • FINALIST: National Book Critics Circle’s Award In Autobiography and John Leonard Prize For Best First Book • PEN/Jean Stein Book Award • Los Angeles Times Book Prize Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Mario Puzo wrote a book and Coppola made a film about the Mafia, but only Letizia Battaglia told the real story, the plain, harsh story. She told Vice that her mission was "to document everything that acted as testimony against the Mafia."Drago is proud to announce its new project: an anthology, curated by Paolo Falcone, of Letizia Battaglia's extraordinary photographic work, from 1971 to 2016.Letizia Battaglia (Palermo, 1935) is a Sicilian photographer and photojournalist. Although her photos document a wide spectrum of Sicilian life, she is best known for her work on the Mafia.Over the years, Battaglia took some 600,000 images whilst documenting the ferocious internal war of the Mafia, and its assault on civil society. Battaglia sometimes found herself at the scene of four or five different murders in a single day. In a recent interview with CNN, Battaglia claimed that her "archives are full of blood" interspersed with images that capture the "immense beauty" of Sicily. The Daily Beast wrote that her pictures capture "Mafia judges and police officers, many dead in their cars with blood so fresh it glimmers like water." Yet some present daily Sicilian life with "young girls playing on the cobbled streets and wealthy women in fur collars sipping champagne."A large selection of her iconic black and white images will be presented in the catalogue, guiding the reader along a journey into one of post-war Italy's darkest periods. Drawing from Battaglia's personal archive the book also includes more recent projects. It offers a unique approach to her genre-defining photography (often linked to that of American 'crime' photographer Weegee) and a chance to reflect on the role of photography as an individual and collective means for taking action, bearing witness, providing evidence and documenting history.

“Deftly written, gripping and informative. Empire of Wild is a rip-roaring read!”—Margaret Atwood, From Instagram “Empire of Wild is doing everything I love in a contemporary novel and more. It is tough, funny, beautiful, honest and propulsive—all the while telling a story that needs to be told by a person who needs to be telling it.”—Tommy Orange, author of There There A bold and brilliant new indigenous voice in contemporary literature makes her American debut with this kinetic, imaginative, and sensuous fable inspired by the traditional Canadian Métis legend of the Rogarou—a werewolf-like creature that haunts the roads and woods of native people’s communities. Joan has been searching for her missing husband, Victor, for nearly a year—ever since that terrible night they’d had their first serious argument hours before he mysteriously vanished. Her Métis family has lived in their tightly knit rural community for generations, but no one keeps the old ways . . . until they have to. That moment has arrived for Joan. One morning, grieving and severely hungover, Joan hears a shocking sound coming from inside a revival tent in a gritty Walmart parking lot. It is the unmistakable voice of Victor. Drawn inside, she sees him. He has the same face, the same eyes, the same hands, though his hair is much shorter and he's wearing a suit. But he doesn't seem to recognize Joan at all. He insists his name is Eugene Wolff, and that he is a reverend whose mission is to spread the word of Jesus and grow His flock. Yet Joan suspects there is something dark and terrifying within this charismatic preacher who professes to be a man of God . . . something old and very dangerous. Joan turns to Ajean, an elderly foul-mouthed card shark who is one of the few among her community steeped in the traditions of her people and knowledgeable about their ancient enemies. With the help of the old Métis and her peculiar Johnny-Cash-loving, twelve-year-old nephew Zeus, Joan must find a way to uncover the truth and remind Reverend Wolff who he really is . . . if he really is. Her life, and those of everyone she loves, depends upon it.

Shannon O'Hara, skating down the ice chasing after the puck, comes face to face with a larger-than-life opposing team player. Never one to back down from anything, barely five feet fall, Shannon tangles with the player and ends up with a penalty. As she sits in the penalty box--only thinking about getting out in two minutes--no one would ever imagine that this beautiful, vibrant, and competitive young spirit will be gone in 54 days. The devastating news that 12-year-old Shannon is diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor is unfathomable, surreal, and unimaginable. This is the raw and emotional story of the O'Hara's as they prepare for the fight of their lives, and their ultimate loss. Written and inspired by a blog that Dan and Jen O'Hara wrote to keep in touch with their family, friends, and supporters near and far, the story follows the yearlong battle from diagnosis to death and exemplifies how to live the "new normal" every day, no matter what it entails. Shannon's struggle reveals why family, faith, and hope are so important in our daily lives and how the support of a community plays such a vital role through the good times and especially the bad.
